The summer tournament at the Glückauf Stadium, hosted by the Freiberg University Sports Centre, was organised on 17 June 2026 by the two coaches, Hannes Möhring and Simon Hörtzsch. A total of ten highly motivated teams competed in the group stage, divided into two strong groups of five. From the very first minute, the group stage was played at a high intensity, as every mistake could prove decisive in matches lasting just ten minutes. For the subsequent knockout stage, the match duration was slightly increased to twelve minutes. As the top four teams from each group qualified for the quarter-finals, the standard remained high throughout the tournament.

The road to the final round and the third-place play-off
Following some intense quarter-final matches, it became clear in the semi-finals which team had the strongest nerves. Dynamo Tresen marched through with a commanding 2–0 victory over FC Vielfalt Freiberg, whilst the team ‘Normale Kartoffel auf die Eins’ defeated Umma United by the same scoreline to secure their place in the final. The third-place play-off then took an unexpected turn: as FC Vielfalt Freiberg failed to turn up, the match was awarded 3–0 to Umma United by default. Umma United thus secured a well-deserved third place on the podium without having to break a sweat in the final.
The dramatic finale
The grand final between Dynamo Tresen and ‘Normale Kartoffel auf die Eins’ eventually turned into a real nail-biter between two evenly matched sides. After twelve minutes of normal play, the score was tied at 1–1, meaning the match had to be decided in a dramatic penalty shoot-out. Nerves were on edge when ‘Normale Kartoffel auf die Eins’ missed their very first penalty. However, as every single taker from both teams then coolly converted their spot-kicks, it remained an extremely close contest right until the end. In the end, Dynamo Tresen triumphed by the narrowest of margins, 6–5, were crowned the deserved tournament winners and were celebrated as champions.
