June 17 was all about sporting team experiences and successes. Around 170 athletes took part in this year's Team Challenge as part of the University Sports Olympics. Eight creative challenge stations awaited the more than 30 teams, where as many points as possible had to be scored. This year, activities such as the biathlon run, goal shooting, synchronized skiing and a balance and reaction challenge were on the agenda. The entire outdoor area of the university sports center was transformed into a large playground.

At each station, four starters from each team had to score between 0 and a maximum of 10 points in order to achieve the highest possible score after eight stations. In previous years, the four or two best-placed teams competed against each other at the end of the preliminary round to decide the overall winner, but this year all teams were to compete against each other at the same time and with four starters each in the big, tough relay final to crown the overall winner. At the end of the preliminary round, the points difference to the leading team was converted into distance metres. Team Käseland had a clear lead of over 10 points after the preliminary round, giving them an advantage of more than 50 metres. All teams were lined up on the stadium lap according to their distance from the leading team and off they went!
Starting signal - starter no. 1 has to transport a cup with an air balloon without touching the cup with his hands. After about 200 metres of running, the team handed over to starters 2 + 3, who had to transport a shot put ball across the football pitch - in the form of a human wheelbarrow. Completing the final relay challenge of the last team starter then took some time, as the following maths problem had to be solved beforehand...

After almost 7 minutes and a final relay challenge dominated by running performance, the previously third-placed team, the Vertikalsportler, fought their way to first place and won unchallenged by a large margin - CONGRATULATIONS! Second place went to the ASV "Alte Elisabeth" team ahead of the third-placed team "Hans hat Knie". Team Käseland had to relinquish what they thought was an almost certain victory and took the wooden medal in fourth place.

Thanks to the many course instructors from the University Sports Centre and other helpers, the organisation was perfected even further compared to last year. The station sequences ran smoothly and the time limit of 4 hours was adhered to almost to the minute.
THANK YOU
A big thank you goes to the partners and supporters of the event, without whom a University Sports Olympiad would not be possible. We would also like to thank our photographer Christoph Scharm for the many great impressions captured in pictures! The long-standing cooperation with TUBAF's health partner, Techniker Krankenkasse, enables us to focus on healthy and nutritious catering. The Friends and Sponsors Association and the StuRa of TU Freiberg have been supporting our event both financially and ideally for years - thank you! We would also like to thank our colleagues from the Reichen Zeche, led by "master brewer" Ronny Schimpke, for their support with their liquid gold - the delicious Reichen Zecher - and the fantastic shopping vouchers from REWE Kaden and Kaufland am Häuersteig - thank you!
A big thank you also to all other supporters: Studentenwerk | Döner Bosporus | Ruck-Sachse | Haema | Intersport Noack
